You know you are a homeschooler When?

Yep, we said that saying so many times:   You know you are a homeschooler when?

When everything you do leads into schooling.

Example:  You go to the grocery store and you compare prices:  Math

You do some work around the house you have to measure or cut: Math again.

You bake a cake wow you got Math again along with home ec.

We can go out to eat while we are waiting for our food, we will talk about something and it always leads to school.

I wonder why that is?   I guess because we enjoy teaching and learning right along with our children.  Its so much fun to watch there eyes light up when they learn something new.

Alot of people will hear us talking and say do you all homeschool and we say yes. They say wow that is neat. We can tell you are very intestered in your children schooling. We say yes its important to us. They then say they can usually tell a homeschool family by the way they dress but we set them off. We don't wear dresses like alot of them do.  I said its not what wear. LOL

The other day we were eating and Baby Wolf and Oldest Wolf told us something we been waiting to hear.  They both thank us for homeschooling them and told us that there children would also be homeschool.  Yea.  I am so glad.

Getting ready to open the School Doors again!

Well our summer vacation is almost over with.  Time to open the books again and hit it hard.

I know its early but when you live in the South and its in the triple digit, its hard to do anything outside so we start school early and take some extra days off in the winter time when we can go outside and not fry our little brains in five minutes.

Most the books have been order. Once  again in Math we will do Teaching Textbook what a wonderful program.  Wolf Daughters have both enjoy it and they seem to understand it well.

Now we are looking into some literature stuff for Baby Wolf Daughter.  There is alot of good stuff out there just have to decide what we want to do and when.   She loves alot of the older stuff.  So, tomorrow will look up alot of that stuff and get it all in line.

So, another year almost ready to beginning at Wolf Bay High

Wonderful day at the beach!

We decide to load up in the Wolf mobile and go for a ride and check out the beach.

We had a wonderful time on the beach, nice breeze so kept it us cooler.  Alot of people from all the place enjoying the wonderful beach.

We were laughing you can always tell when people are from out of town. They feed the sea gulls. People that live around here don't feed them. They are mean birds. Once you feed them they don't leave you alone.

We were talking about the time. Baby Wolf Daughter was at the beach we were going to eat some cheetos. She went to the car to get the bag.  We were new in the South and we didn't know that seagulls love bright colors.   Well Baby Wolf Daughter was six then.   She got in the car and got the cheetos was bringing them back to us.  The seagulls seen her. Now the bag wasn't open it was shut yet. But, she was carry it and they attach her.  Got her on the ground. Before we could get to her. They had open the bag and was peeking her, left two good marks on her.  So, when we go to the beach we don't usually eat to much.

We had a hard time getting little wolf daughter back to the beach, she still don't care for it.

Got this sent to my e mail today. A must read story on homeschooling.

A Public School Teacher Talks Homeschooling

JEN A Public School Teacher Talks Homeschooling
Hi!  My name is Jenny Buttler, and {{brace yourselves}} I don’t homeschool.  Now, before you shooo me on off, let me reassure you that I would if I could.  Huh?  It’s not too late you say?  I know.  But I’m not gonna.  And I’m not here to convince you that you shouldn’t either.  In fact…  I’m here to encourage all you hip homeschoolin’ hotties…. and support you and to reassure you that as a homeschooling mom, you are making the right choice.
So who do I think I am, comin’ all up in here and preachin….  well, for starters, you can find me at my {new} blog Our Southern Grace, where I blog about life in the south, God’s abundant grace, and life inbetween!  I’ve got three kiddos, Nathan (12), Gracyn (6), and Whitley (3).  I’m a Texas girl born and raised, and if you’d like a taste of the South (both literally and spiritually), I’d love nothing more than if you’d hop on over for a visit.  But before you do…  A little about my non~homeschoolin’ background…
So why don’t I homeschool?  Well, I’m just gonna be honest and say that I’ve got three very strong willed children and I don’t feel like I could keep the comittment to give them what they need in education.  I am a teacher though, and that’s another reason why I don’t homeschool.  Because teaching is what God has called me to do, and He knows that we are in dire need of some christian teachers in public school.  As a public school teacher, the biggest question I receive from homeschooling friends is…. are they doing the right thing by homeschooling.  Is public school so bad?  The quick answer…  yes.  And no.
So, what makes public school so good or so bad?  Besides the processed food they serve in the cafeteria’s….  Here are ten reasons why you should homeschool your children (from a public teacher point of view):
  1. Individuality: All teachers {should} believe that individualized education is better than one size fits all education, but sadly…  many just ignore the individual and teach the group.
  2. Time Management: There is no time wasted (taking role, taking 25 students to the bathroom 3-4 times a day, standing in line for library, music, PE, lunch, recess, to go home, etc.).  I used a timer one day to prove a point, we wasted almost an entire hour forming lines for these things.
  3.
3 8a taks A Public School Teacher Talks Homeschooling
Some kids can’t fill in bubbles.
    no lie!

  4. Standardized Tests: There are no standardized tests, which means that your child won’t have to sit through three hours of instruction on how to write his name in squares or how to fill in bubbles.
  5. Substitute teachers: There are no substitute teachers who will play movies all day (while on facebook) while you are gone for training on how to give standardized tests.
  6. Seating arrangements: At home, your child does not have to sit next to the kids from The Children of the Corn.
  7. Religion & Spirituality: At home, you won’t have 2 Jehovah Witness parents, one Muslim parent, and one African-American parent complaining that you are teaching religion at Christmas time when you are really teaching cultures from around the world, and reciting the constitution to you during your parent conference, or not allowing their child to participate in a class party.
  8. Dress Code: This may sound like a silly one, but when you homeschool – there are no backbreaking back to school shopping sprees.  There are also no fashion shows, and no one to judge your children if they are not wearing the latest trends.
  9. Lesson Plans: As your child’s only teacher, you have plenty of time to carefully plan out how you are going to teach.  You won’t have to worry about missing school for training, observations from your superiors to make sure you are teaching what is going to be tested, you won’t have to hold tutorials or parent conferences, you won’t have to document special needs children, you won’t have to grade 35 research papers, or make 20 phone calls after school.
  10. Sheltered: Oh yes.  If you choose to homeschool your children, they will live a sheltered and secluded life, barren from friends and any type of socialization.  Sheltered from things like lockdowns, and drug-raids, and children who are so emotionally disturbed they have to be removed from the classroom by two grown men.  Things like children who think they are gay because they have two mommies, or children who know about s-e-x at the age of 10, firsthand.
  11. dolphins A Public School Teacher Talks Homeschooling
Even though we don’t homeschool, I take every
opportunity to teach my own kiddos!
  12. Field Trips: In public school, we were limited to one field trip at the end of the year.  When you homeschool, you can choose where you want to go to deepen and enrich your child’s education.  And the choices are limitless!  Art Museums for Art, Ballet Recitals, Concerts of all sort, plays at a local theatre company, children’s museums, History Museums, Galleries, Aquariums, Zoos, Nature Hikes, Weather Observations, PE events.  I could go on and on!
Don’t get me wrong – there are an abundance of good things about public school.  And I teach, because I feel that it is what God has called me to do.  Most teachers won’t tell you that you shouldn’t homeschool.  Because we know why you are making that choice.  We live it, we see it, we teach it.  We go to bed thinking about how to manage it, how to challenge it, how to make it flourish and thrive in a world that is full of challenges and limitations.  We know how much work goes into every aspect of planning a school day, and how unforeseen events can unfold.
We know what takes place in the classroom, in the cafeteria, in the restrooms, in special ed meetings, and in the principals office.  And it’s not pretty.  So as a public school teacher, who chooses to look at my students through the eyes of Christ… I want to commend you for making the choice to teach.  But I also want to challenge you.
As public school teachers, we do not have the same freedoms that you homeschooling moms have…  things like projects,  field trips, which curriculum to use.  You do. We don’t have the freedom to focus for an extended period of time on one subject when students are struggling.  You do. We don’t have the freedom to take multiple field trips to supplement curriculum.  You do. We don’t have the freedom to challenge our students in creative ways that make them use both sides of their brains thanks to things like standardized testing…  YOU DO!!
So I want to challenge each of you reading this, to look at homeschooling with fresh eyes, and after this summer I want you to teach your kids with passion!  Look beyond the frustrations and temper tandrums and the I don’t want to’s and see your children in the classroom that you have given them and remind yourselves that teaching is a full time job and your children deserve the very best.
Whether it is taking a field trip, or working on your schedule, or changing your curriculum….. let’s generate some discussion that we can all benefit from…..  What area’s do you need to improve in…  leave us a comment or question below on how  you are going to go above and beyond and challenge your students!!

Why do people like to judge? or think they are better then others.

We have given and given to so many people its not funny.  That includes family and friends.  It seems like the more we give the more people like us. The minute we stop or brighten up our name turns to mud and we are nothing and called all kinds of bad names.

Why, do people treat others like that, its so sad.  Why?  We loved to give and help others so much its not funny.  But, you know sometimes things get hard for everyone not just you and sometimes we just don't want too, we want to give to others or help others.

Why do you have to be so mean and call us names and say things about us that aren't true.  We do hear what you say and see it too.  So, grow up.

Sometimes we like to just sit outside and feel the air or smell the rain when it does it rain. You and others do and we don't say anything.  Its a free world its not just your world.

So, last night daddy wolf and I had a long time I am tired of giving and be nice. I know I shouldn't feel this way but guess what if you aren't nice I am not going to be either. If you throw dirty looks or say something about our me or my family I will do the same. I know its not the right way to do it but I been nice long enough and it don't get you anywhere.

True friends are hard to find. Ones that will be there through thick or thin..  ones that wouldn't judge you for you everything you do. We all were put on this world for reason and yes sometimes we do things differently.

Half Price Books!

I love going to Half Price Books for books.  Its wonderful opening your door and seeing  a lot of books.  It seems like we never can get enough books.

That's the joy of homeschooling love tons and tons of books.

It seems no matter when you go to half price books there is always something new.  We seem to be able to fine all the books we need and never pay full price for them and being a homeschooler or teacher we get discounts there too.   Who don't like discounts.  Just when you go in tell them you are a homeschooler they will give you a form to fill out and bingo you will get a discount from now on. It helps alot too when they have books on sale and you get a discount, the books are almost free.

Don't forget to sign up for if you want to join the give away working on the prize.   Its a wonderful homeschool tool we loved it and know who ever gets it will put it to good use.

Who needs a frying pans or heat!

I think mother nature made her own heat for us. Its so hot outside you can fry a egg on the sidewalk.

One good thing about that it will save on the light bill.

But, then again do you really want to eat a egg that is fried on the sidewalk?  Wow I don't think I would think of all the germs that are on the sidewalk.   All the wonderful four legged things that crawl across it and leave happy pills. Nope not for me.

But, it is hot down here, in the triple digits with heat index today. Just a little to warm for me. Hope for some rain and winter to come soon.

Why do people preach when they have no right too?

This has bother me for years since we moved to the South.  I have always taught the Wolf Daughters to never talk to people about three things in life.  Money, Religion, and Politics  I feel its no one business and nine out of ten times it will start a fight.

You know we all were made differently.  Some of believe in one thing or another and a lot of others don't agree with us. Which is fine that is what makes the World turn and makes us free.

But, please don't look down on us because we don't have tons of money like you all.  We are great family and will do anything to anyone as long as we don't get knock down doing it.

We have our own religion and we don't talk to you about. We have our own believes yes it might not be the way you all want them to be. But, please don't look down on us because we don't believe or agree with what you do. Everyone believes and agree differently.

Politics,  I don't care about it much I have my believes you have yours so we will keep them that way.

Wolf Family has been so down graded by the South because we aren't baptist and we read Harry Potter.  There are many kinds of religion out there and so many believes.  I feel we shouldn't judge others for what they believe its a free world and there is tons out there to learn and believe. If we want to believe one way or another that is our believe we shouldn't be judge. First of all who are you to judge?   Yes, I say that because when we moved South we been judge so many times its not funny.  The people that judge us have no right to be judging.  Mommy and Daddy Wolf might not believe what you believe but if we go back and look at records up, ours is clean. Yours well that's another story.  You had a child at 16 or 17 wow.  You did drugs.  Wow.  Yea I believe you can change but you shouldn't judge. We aren't prefect and we will be the first to admit it but we wouldn't tell you what to believe and tell you we can't be friends because you wouldn't join our church or believe what we want you to believe.   I don't feel that makes a person.

Politics, wow that can be scary.  Almost like religion I feel that is why I never get into any conversation when I hear that talk. We all have our own beliefs and believe this or that person can change the world.  (but, it usually don't work that way.)

Money,  well that's another funny topic.  I don't judge people by what they have, wear or do. I judge them by how they treat there family and nice to us.  I don't care if you have tons of money it don't mean you are a great person.  I don't care if you have no money doesn't make you a great person.  A person is one who is caring and try's the best he or she can.

I feel you shouldn't judge someone by what they believe in religion, politics  or how much or how little money they have.   That doesn't make a person.

I know it's hard but hey it don't make a person because they believe one way and you another.

Its a free world.   Just remember that next time you try and talk someone into going to your church and they wouldn't or vote for someone you want them to vote for and they wouldn't and they don't have the money to do something with you or they have to much money.   We all are human and we all need to remember we all have our own believes and ways and that doesn't make us good or bad.

Why do we always want what we can't have?

I was laying in bed last night wondering this question myself.  Why do we always want what we can't have.

If its raining we want drought:  If we have drought we want rain.

If its cold we want heat:  If its hot we want cold.

If we live up North we want to live in the South:  If we live in the South we want to live in the North.

Goes to show you we are hard to please.  We always want what we can't have.  I guess I would say we get bored really easy and like lots of changes.

Money bags

This year, July has 5 Fridays, 5 Saturdays and 5 Sundays. This happens
once every 823 years. This is called money bags. So, forward this to
your friends and money will arrive within 4 days. Based on Chinese
Feng Shui. The one who does not forward.....will be without money.

Kind of interesting - read on!!!

This year we're going to experience four unusual dates.

1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11, 11/11/11 and that's not all...

Take the last two digits of the year in which you were born - now add
the age you will be this year,

The results will be 111 for everyone in whole world. This is the year of
the Money!!!

The proverb goes that if you send this to eight good friends money will
appear in next four days as it is explained in Chinese FENGSHUI.

Those who don't continue the chain won't receive.......

Its a mystery, but it is worth a try. Good luck!

got this in my e mail and thought I would share it.

The Eagle: I never knew this!

THE EAGLE

This is Amazing...It is no wonder there are scriptural references to the eagle!  I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did. And, no there is no wonder the bald eagle has such a significant symbolism to our country.  What hope…¦!!!! []

When it rains, most birds head for shelter; the eagle is the only bird that, in order to avoid the rain, starts flying above the clouds...

An amazing tidbit about the Eagle's eyesight:  The eagle can probably identify a rabbit moving almost a mile away. That means that an eagle flying at an altitude of 1000 feet over open country could spot prey over an area of almost 3 square miles from a fixed position.

No wonder God wants us to spread our wings and soar with eagles.
God Bless all who share this.

I found something else Texas can grow with out water.

Well I found something else Texas can grow with out water.  Its Fleas... yep they are so bad this year its not funny.

My poor puppies have been bath once a week in flea dip and we been treating the yard and house for fleas. Wow and nothing seems to be helping.  Yea we have them under control they aren't biting us and all but its a pain to clean all the time and bath the poor puppies so much..

If anyone have any ideas what we can do to help, sure would love the ideas. I am sure our puppies would love you too.

We have try, Irish spring bar soap someone said that would work.. (notice no different)
Another one Dawn Soap  (notice no different.)
Now the last one was get rosemary needles.  Pour 3 cups of boiling water over needles. Let rest for 30 minutes then put on dogs.  Said Fleas don't like the smell of rosemary. (notice no different)
So, if you all have any wonderful ideas please pass them on..

No good deed goes unpunished.

Wow! That is so true.. No good deed goes unpunished.

Today I decide to get up early mow our lawn before it got to hot and then did the neighbors lawn whom are gone on vacation and coming home in a couple of days. Thought I would have it done for them.

Well I started the mower it was acting funny like it didn't want to stay started. I thought well I will look at it later as long as it working and running don't stop now.

I got both lawns done and decide ok now lets check on the mower. I was holding it up  to check it out, my hand slip and the mower hit me in the head.  I seen several stars and then got this big bump and headache.

What a way to start out the week.

Good Homeschool Writing Assignment

A good homeschool friend of mine brought this to my attention this morning again.

At the Wolf Table the other night we were talking about it wondering if it was true or something that was said so many times it became true.

So, when she brought this up we thought hey what a great writing assignment for youngest Wolf Daughter.

On June 5, 1752, Benjamin Franklin harnessed electricity from lightning with a kite. Since then, June 5th has been known as Fly a Kite Day in America. So, go fly a kite.

Thanks Benjamin Franklin for electricity I don't know what I do without it....

Garage Sales!

Yes, people these are garage sales, used items not brand new. What?

Youngest wolf daughter and I went to some garage sales today. Now I remember why I don't wake up for them down here.  Wow, what people ask for there stuff.  I understand you paid good money for it. But, remember you used it for years or months too.   Also, remember you are at a garage sale not out to make your monthly payments.   If so I think your stuff will sit.

I really couldn't believe the prices on things. There was a mickey mouse statue that wolf daughter wanted they wanted $7.00 for it.  I told her look it over good and we will ask them to lower it. We looked it over and mickey's hand was missing and tinkerbell was gone all but her wings. And you wanted $7.00 dollars for this. I said to the girl can you lower it she said no I paid $ 50.00 for it. I said yes but its broken, she then went on to say its worth a lot. I said wow even broken.

I can't believe people ask prices for broken old things.....  Like shirts or clothing items $10.00 for one item.

Think my garage sale days are done.   Unless the prices are lower.

You can pick your house, but not your neighbors.

That is so true. You can pick out a house you love and want so bad.  But, you can't pick your neighbors unless you are way out in the country.

I don't get our neighbor and never will.  We have lived her for a while now and Oldest Wolf Daughter was learning to drive. We ask her nicely one time to please move her van up little so Wolf Daughter could back out but no she had to leave it right in the middle of her drive way and Wolf Daughter back right into. Ok, its done right well thats not the whole story. We went to the house to let them know what we did  it took them awhile to come out. We call our insurance company got it taken care of so we thought then a week later our insurance company called to tell us she was suing us saying she was hurt in the van. WHAT she wasn't in it and we had pictures.

She got so mad at us for not letting us sue our insurance she has made living her hell.  Yes, I mean hell.   First I will not lie for anyone if she was hurt I would of been more then glad to pay for it. But, she wasn't in the van.  Women what is wrong with you.

Second don't go around passing roamers about me or my family. Its been hard I mean hard to go outside, her and her wonderful husband live in the garage I mean live in it. They are up early and out late smoking and drinking.  Every time we come out for anything they stare us down or give us the finger.

What is wrong with people now days?  Don't they have a life

Oceans!

Today we had to go to the next big town and in order to do that we have to cross the big bridge which takes us over the ocean.

Well while we were going over it the wolf daughters said look mom the ocean is green today. Why is that?

I said I really don't know why some days it looks really green, others it looks blue, and some days it looks brown.

Then bingo a light went off in our heads.  What a wonderful school project for youngest wolf daughter to look up and write a paper about.

Thats the joys of homeschooling every thing you see and do turns into school.  You sometimes wonder if you can every do anything with out school in it.

My answer is no.  We are leaving something new every day.  So, now we got another project to work on. I need to get busy and help wolf daughter with school.

Midnight Summer Dream!

Youngest Wolf Daughter will start reading midnight summers dream soon.   Oldest Wolf Daughter had a hard time getting through it but loved it in the end.

Its one of those stories that are hard to stay on track with.  Thinking with youngest wolf daughter to get the book on tape to help her with it.  She is not a big reader and I know this story will really make her not want to read, so I am trying to make it easier for her.

Anyone have ideas I need them.
