It does rain in South Texas!

Wow!  Laid down for afternoon nap.  Woke up and it was dark in the house so dark thought wow I really slept. Looked at the clock and it was only 2pm  I thought what is going on.

Check on the both girls they were doing fine.   Went to look outside and it was dark out, thunder and lighting I thought wow we going to get something.

Just watch the weather at noon and said nothing in forecast till maybe Sept.   Guess they were caught off.

It rain for a good two hours felt so good to see something other then the sun and see rain. The poor lawns, plants and trees sure needed it.

Went to bed and got woke up with another storm that once again wasn't suppose to happen.   But, hey thats ok with me.

This morning when daddy wolf went to work it was raining again.  Think I can get use to this.

Said we got about a inch.

Poor weather man I think they all better look for a new jobs.

What Happen with kids being kids?

Why does everyone want there kid to grow up so fast?  I never noticed it so much then when I started homeschooling my daughters.

Everyone I talk to has the smartest kids they are so far ahead and doing so well or they start there kids at the age of 3 and they are doing 1st grade work.

Whatever happen with kids being kids and doing little kids stuff.  Why do kids have to go to school so young anymore.  I know I see it in the public school too.  They started P-K for 4 years old.

When my daughters were 4 we were reading doing fun things not much school.  Guess I am weird mama for wanting kids to be kids.   I feel they will have plenty of time in school they don't need to start so young.   By the time they need to really go to school they are going to be so burnt out it wouldn't be funny.  Then you say they loved school when they were young and now I can't get them to do it. Dude, you burnt them.  Why do you want them to grow up so fast?   They have plenty of time for school.   That is why I think they have so much trouble in school kids are so bored as they learned the stuff so young and have to repeat and repeat it.

Then I was thinking and listen to tons of mom talk the other day at a homeschool group and they all had the smartest kids on the earth and they all were working any where from 2 to 3 years ahead of everyone and doing well.  OK  I know there are some and there really are some kids that are smart  little cookies, but come on not everyone.  If so why is the world the way it is?   I really think its the parents that want there kids to be smart to show off.

I never got into that.  My daughters are doing great and right on track.  They are doing everything we want and then some.  I didn't start them till they were the right age.

But, my thought is why can't little kids be little kids play with toys and do the things kids do when they are young.   So, when they really go to school and need to sit and learn they wouldn't be burnt out.

If all these kids are smart and doing so well and so far ahead how come half of them I know now work in Wal mart, or a hamburger joint?

Just my thoughts.

Co-Sleep

Was watching tv today this morning while I was putting our supper in the slow cooker for tonight and Good Morning America was on and they were talking about co-sleep.

I know there tons against it and tons for it.

Well I am one of those parents that say what ever works for your family do it.  Don't worry what others think.

I will be truthful, both my girls co-sleep with us.  When they were small enough to do that Daddy Wolf was working the night shift and I just like company and them by me.  They slept better and it worked.

When he was off they still sleep with us.  I figure this time wouldn't last long and it gave us a little more special cuddly time and time with them.

Yes, I was right it didn't last long but hey I got a couple cuddles in.   They grow fast and gone.

I had a lot of people ask what about you and Daddy Wolf's special time.  Well we had that.  Both daughters went to bed early we had our time before we went in and cuddle.   There's always a way to make it work.

But, hey if you don't agree that if fine too. You have to do what you have to do for your family and what works for family.   For my family this is what worked at the time.

There are plenty of boats to float in this world. Sometimes we all don't float the same boat.

Another Accident!

We weren't in this one this time. But, this one is really bad I mean bad.

A family of 8 children and two adults were leaving the beach to go home and no one was wearing there seat belts and the driver fell asleep behind the wheel hit a pole and throw everyone out of the SUV killing two children and 5 children still in bad shape.   Both adults walked out unharmed.

Wow where were those parents head anywhere? Why? wasn't those babies in car seats they all were to young to die.  So, sad.

I say if you can't put them in car seats or belts you shouldn't go anywhere.

Now police are trying to decide should they press charges or not?  Wow that's a  hard one, I have mix emotions on that one.  Yes, the parents should be counted for there action. But, don't you think losing two children will teach them.  I don't know.  I do know its a sad thing to happen.

Memories!

Subject: 1950 version of email...love it

I have no idea who put this together, but it is wonderful!!

Long ago and far away, in a land that time forgot,
Before the days of Dylan, or the dawn of Camelot.
There lived a race of innocents, and they were you and me.

For Ike was in the White House in that land where we were born,
Where navels were for oranges, and Peyton Place was porn.

We learned to gut a muffler, we washed our hair at dawn,
We spread our crinolines to dry in circles on the lawn..

We longed for love and romance, and waited for our Prince,
And Eddie Fisher married Liz, and no one's seen him since.

We danced to 'Little Darlin,' and sang to 'Stagger Lee'
And cried for Buddy Holly in the Land That Made Me, Me.

Only girls wore earrings then, and 3 was one too many,
And only boys wore flat-top cuts, except for Jean McKinney
.

And only in our wildest dreams did we expect to see,
A boy named George with Lipstick, in the Land That Made Me,
 Me.

We fell for Frankie Avalon, Annette was oh, so nice,
And when they made a movie, they never made it twice..

We didn't have a Star Trek Five, or Psycho Two and Three,
Or Rocky-Rambo Twenty in the Land That Made Me, Me.

Miss Kitty had a heart of gold, and Chester had a limp,
And Reagan was a Democrat whose co-star was a chimp.

We had a Mr. Wizard, but not a Mr. T,
And Oprah couldn't talk yet, in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We had our share of heroes, we never thought they'd go,
At least not Bobby Darin, or Marilyn Monroe.

For youth was still eternal, and life was yet to be,
And Elvis was forever in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We'd never seen the rock band that was Grateful to be Dead,
And Airplanes weren't named Jefferson, and Zeppelins were not Led.

And Beatles lived in gardens then, and Monkees lived in trees,
Madonna was Mary in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We'd never heard of microwaves, or telephones in cars,
And babies might be bottle-fed, but they were not grown in jars.

And pumping iron got wrinkles out, and 'gay' meant fancy-free,
And dorms were never co-Ed in the Land That Made Me, Me.

We hadn't seen enough of jets to talk about the lag,
And microchips were what was left at the bottom of the bag.

And hardware was a box of nails, and bytes came from a flea,
And rocket ships were fiction in the Land That Made Me,
 Me.

Buicks came with portholes, and side shows came with freaks,
And bathing suits came big enough to cover both your cheeks.

And Coke came just in bottles, and skirts below the knee,
And Castro came to power near the Land That Made Me,
 Me.

We had no Crest with Fluoride, we had no Hill Street Blues,
We had no patterned pantyhose or Lipton herbal tea,
Or prime-time ads for those dysfunctions in the Land That Made Me
, Me.

There were no golden arches, no Perrier to chill,
And fish were not called Wanda, and cats were not called Bill.

And middle-aged was 35 and old was forty-three,
And ancient were our parents in the Land That Made Me,
 Me.

But all things have a season, or so we've heard them say,
And now instead of Maybelline we swear by Retin-A.
They send us invitations to join AARP,
We've come a long way, baby, from the Land That Made Me, Me.

So now we face a brave new world in slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're using smaller print in magazines.
And we tell our children's children of the way it used to be,
Long ago and far away in the Land That Made Me, Me.

If you didn't grow up in the fifty's,
You missed the greatest time in history

Cancer!

As many of you know we been through cancer here at Wolf Bay High several times and believe me its no bed of roses and no fun.

I had a lady e mail me the other day to ask what to do with younger children when the cancer patient is getting treatment or after they come home and you are trying to settle the patient in.

Well I had tons of ideas as both Wolf Daughters were very young when there Daddy went through it.  I told them what we did is when Daddy Wolf had the treatments both girls sat beside him or on his lap and we watch movies, read books.  Keep Daddy's Wolf mind busy and forgetting what was going on.
Both girls enjoy the time with Daddy Wolf and Daddy Wolf enjoyed the time with the girls.

Then after treatments we came home.  Daddy Wolf was always tired and not feeling well. I wanted to get him settle first. But, the girls who were 1 and 3 years old wanted me too. So, I had to do some soul thinking as it was getting hard to do.

Well I came up with idea.  Went to Wal mart bought several small plastic containers with lids and then head to the dollar store and had fun.  I came home filled the plastic containers up with things the girls could do and have fun for a few minutes while I got there daddy settle down.
One container would have blocks with little toys to build house or roads...  another container would have play dough with plastic cookie cutters and plastic table cloth to put on floor.  Another container would have colors and color books.   Another would have barbies and different clothes to put on them.   They were so excited the first time I did it and then after every treatment they would be mommy where is our new box of fun stuff when we would get in the house.
You can also take toys from there toy box and put in we did that too.

It worked it keep them busy long enough for me to get Daddy Wolf settle and then when he was settle it was time for me to give them attention and something to eat.

We made it. Thank God.  You know they say life isn't easy and not a bed of roses that is so true.  Sometimes there a rock in the middle of the road that you need to kick away.

You don't need a band aid!

WOW!  I don't understand where people get if you don't have a band aid or wearing a cast you aren't hurting.

We need to all get over that saying.   I have gotten a couple of calls the last couple of days from some lovely friends checking on us.   We all are doing fair still have several weeks of treatment to go through and some healing hopeful we all we will be out painting the town soon.

But, the reason some friends called was because they had family or friends with cancer and had question.  The reason they call me is because here at Wolf Bay we been through it three times.  That's enough for anyone.

But, one of the friends that called was having a hard time with guilt and other things. You see she helps the mother of a friend of hers who's daughter has cancer.   She is said she doesn't understand why the girl talks bad from time to time. Why she don't do things?   Well the other night they had to rush her to the hospital the little girl is not doing well she has mouth full of sores, high fever, the treatments are taking there total on the little poor little thing.

So, I had a long talk with my wonderful friend and told her yes its common for you to feel guilty for trying  to make her do things when she couldn't.  Well that is common we think if we get people moving they will feel better or not think of the illness. Yes, that is true but you also have to listen to them and what they say there body can do.

I told her  I don't get where people don't think people are sick unless they run around with a big band aid or cast on. There inside can say a lot but can't put a band aid on.

Cancer is a tough disease and not only hard for the patient but the care givers and there family. They need the support too.

So, people when some one says they can't do it.  Please don't judge that person, they know what there body can and can't do. Yes they not wearing a big band aid or cast to show the world they are hurt. They really are hurting and can only do so many things.  Believe me I am writing this as I know I do.  I been through Cancer twice with Daddy Wolf and once with his Sister whom lived with us and I took care of her.

Now with our wreck.   We are hurting a lot but we are trying our best to do what we have to do and to get through it.   Don't judge show  you care.  There may be  a time you might need a shoulder or someone to help.

Yahoo

Daddy, how was I born? 'Well, son, Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, and googled each other. There your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said: 'You got Male'

When is to old to drive?

Sorry for not blogging in awhile. Its not that I didn't want to just to much going on and wasn't up to it.

First before I go through everything that went on I want to thank my family, Wolf Daddy's boss and all the wonderful people that came to help us.

On Aug.10, 2011 I got up the nerve to go to the dentist and get my work done.  Wow! I had the most amazing dentist and staff it was out of this world they are the best.  Never felt any pain or anything everything went well. Got my work done.  Daddy Wolf took me home to rest.

Then on Aug. 11, 2011,  Oldest Daughter Wolf was took me to the dentist so Daddy Wolf wouldn't have to take off anymore time from work as they are really busy. Things were going great. The appointment went well. We left the office all in good moods.   As were leaving and almost out of the parking lot, a big monster truck.  (The reason I call it a big monster truck is it was big, red, up really high and had a grill in the front came across the parking lot right to our little mustang and hit us head on.
The driver gets out and says I am sorry I thought I hit the brakes and must of hit the gas.  What?

I couldn't get out of the car I was trapped the door wouldn't open till help come.

Seem like it took forever but I am sure it wasn't they came and check us over. All sore and full of bruises all over the front of me, where my seat belt was.  Seeing doctors to get better and back to our self's once again.

Come to find out the driver was 85 years old. After the first little words he had with us he didn't say a thing.  Just look like he was drinking or on something wasn't here at all.

Never once came to check on all of us in the car or anything.

I think its time for him to give up driving.  First he came across the parking lot like he needed to be some place. Second he didn't need to be driving that big of truck it look way to big for him to handle and he seem really out of it.

Now, its time for the Wolf Family to rest and get better. Busy week next week dentist and now doctors for awhile till all is well and better.

Another thing I found out if you have accident in a parking lot in Texas its private and cops can't get involved. So the insurance companies have to figure it out. OK

Maybe its we are set in our ways?

I wrote a post yesterday about why changes are hard for everyone.

I don't think its really changes that bother us so much as we are so set in our ways that its hard to get out of our pattern...

For example if you get up in the morning and love to sit for 30 minutes or more with coffee and newspaper before you get started.   That is great. Then something comes along and everything changes and breaks your pattern.   It seems to set everything off for awhile.

I think we just think, we like our cozy little nest, where we know nothing or no one is going to hurt us.

All are little ducks are lined up in a row and doing good.  So we don't like anything to come in a mess the ducks up and get them out of line.

But, then again a change once in a while is good for everyone.  Mix up things and makes life a little bit more fun.

Wonder!

Sitting wondering what my ancestors did to stay cool.

Right now its 108 out with heat index as I type this. There is tons of winds, which helps but like daddy wolf says its like going outside in a hot hair dryer.

But, now I see why back then they got up worked early and took afternoons off then went back to work later in the evenings. Its bad out there.

Then I wonder how did they do without computers, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and cellphone wow I could go on and on.

I remember having a good talk with daddy's wolf aunt who lived to be almost 101  about all the changes she seen from the horse and buggy to cars and tv's and then I sit and see the things since I been born.  Like computers, cell phones ( how did we make it with out the phone tied to our hips at all time).   You can reach your spouse anytime.  I remember when daddy wolf went to work and never heard from him from him  for 12 hours.    Times sure change a lot.

Then you sit and talk to people and people say they don't like changes.  Hmmm that's funny all the changes we go through.  Maybe they mean they don't like big ones all at once. Little ones over a long period of time is ok.

But, one think I am thankful for is a/c in the south you have to have it.. it would be like living in the north with no heat.... Thanks so much for the a/c its a lifesaver.

My Talk with Wal Mart Cashier!

The other day the Wolf Daughters and I went to Wal Mart to get some school supplies.  I love buying them when they are on sale and putting stuff away so we can have them through out the year and don't have to go buy them when the prices go up.

Cashier:  I am glad my kids are done with school and I don't have to buy all that stuff.

Me:       Yea the joys of having children.

Cashier:   Looks like you got almost everything? No back packs.

Me:        No we homeschool the girls so we don't need back packs.

Cashier:    How do you do that?

Me:     Look at cashier in the eyes a couple and times and thought to myself silly question. But, I will answer.   Just like public schools do.  We have books and we do every subject and work till they get it.

Cashier:   Don't your kids drive you nuts?

Me:      Another look at the cashier this time kind of funny.  Then I stated Oh No I love my girls I love teaching them and watching there faces when they get something. I love being with my girls all the time. They are our joys.

Cashier:   My kids drove me nuts I looked forward to them going back to school every year.  Then she went on to say what about socialization?

Me:    Another funny look at the cashier.   Well that is no trouble there are tons and tons of things for the girls to do. Really there is to much we had to cut down so I didn't go nuts.   My girls know how to socialization with all ages. Not just other children there ages.  They socialization with people from ages 90 to birth.

Cashier:   I just don't see how people do it and then want there children to go to college.

Me:      They can go to college just like any other kid.  As  a matter of fact my oldest is in college and doing great.   Cashiers eyes get really big.   I said they take the test just like everyone else and they go from there.
Then I stated there were so many wonderful important people in our life time who have been home school and did well.

Cashier:   Never heard of that before.

Me:      Wanting to be a smart ass but wasn't said oh yea a lot of president and actors.

Cashier:   She goes oh don't think I could of homeschool my kids.

Me:       Oh I said I bet you could of.   But, you went other ways which is fine. We all do everything differently.   What works for one family might not work for the  another.

Cashier:   Thanks for answering all my question and being so nice about it.

Me:        Your Welcome have a wonderful day.

Then when I was walking outside with the Wolf Daughters they said wow mom, you were nice and to the point.

I stated yes I have been homeschooling forever and I am so tired of always being label because we do and people saying mean things.

Its a free world and we can all make our own choices in life for our family.

It doesn't pay to get upset with them it doesn't get you any where.

But, next time I run into someone whom public schools I am going to ask them all the question the cashier ask me.   I wonder what they will think?

But, I think its time to turn the tables on a few people.

We are not freaks we are a normal family who choose to homeschool our girls. Whom by the way are doing great. Thanks for asking.

I LOVE HOMESCHOOLING!!!!!

HOMESCHOOL ROCKS!!!!!!!!

What Happen to the Golden Rule!

What Happen to that Golden Rule!

Treat others like you want to be treated.

Wow! I think it got lost just like when they took God out of school. It messed up everything.

I don't understand people now days. You try to do something nice for someone and they treat you  like a used piece of gum on the bottom of your shoe.

I grew up treating people the same no matter what color they are, what they wear, what they drive, or what church they go too. We all were put on this earth by the same person and we all have different ways of seeing things.  Thank God or it would be a boring world if everyone was the same.

I been trying to learn to adjust to the Southern living but its very hard too. They have there ways and don't like to look at others way.   There way is right and that's that.

When someone moves into a neighborhood I was taught its nice to take them a welcome gift of some kind and welcome them to the neighborhood. Not any more they think you are noisey or want something.

If I don't go to there church because we have our own ways I am nothing.

Well I don't know if any of you hear that new song out by Taylor Swift.  I am not  a Taylor Swift fan but when I heard this song I was like yea I could send a lot of people the lyrics to this song:
Mean;  Why do you got to be so Mean.  I hope a lot a people listen to this song and sit down and say hey that is so true.

We need to go back to where every one was treated fair, no matter who you are.  Or where you live and or what you do.

Just remember we all have our opinions and have every right to voice them. Even if you or someone else don't like there opinions..

Here's the link to the song  Mean by Taylor Swift.
