I found something you can grow in South Texas!

Many of you know I am not from the South, so when we moved here from the North, not only was it hard getting use to the heat but it was hard finding dirt to grow something.

There's alot of sand down here.   Wow I wonder what can you grow in sand.

Well my yard has been full of these little pokey things.  They are called Sand burs.  Hurt when you get them in the bottom of your feet. When your puppy goes out potty and gets them in there feet they cry.

So, Oldest Daughter Wolf and I debur the front lawn and started the back lawn.  Alot of work, you have to pull all them out by hand and the roots so they don't come back.

First we had to water the grass good, to hard to pull as ground hard.  We need rain.

Wow! now the yard looks good. If only the sand burs would stay away.

  1. Boy oh boy, those little things hurt like the dickens! When we were house shopping in Corpus years ago, we set our little dog down for a potty stop beside WhatABurger. She got them in all four feet, then tried to pull them herself and got them stuck in her beard (part Schnauzer). She really looked upset with us and we didn't blame her!
